National Handwashing Awareness Week!

Due to increasing COVID and flu cases, effective hand hygiene can help prevent the transmission of these and other infections diseases.  Proper handwashing helps ensure your hands are clean and helps protect you and others from potential infections. 

Handwashing Steps

  1. Wet Your Hands: Use clean, preferably running, warm or cold water to remove dirt and germs.
  2. Apply Soap: Cover all surfaces with bar or liquid soap.
  3. Lather:  Rub hands together, cleaning front and back, between fingers and under the nails.
  4. Scrub: Scrub for at least 20 seconds.
  5. Rinse: Rinse using clean, preferably running, water to remove soap and germs.
  6. Dry: Use a clean towel or air dryer. 
  7. Turn off the faucet:  If using a towel, use it to turn off the faucet. Dispose of single-use towels properly; launder cloth towels regularly.
